Artificial intelligence (AI) is growing by leaps and bounds every second (or so it seems) and the United States Department of Defense (DOD) has pledged some $800M to utilize the technology via a drone program called Replicator. While drone tech in modern warfare is nothing new, Replicator is an innovative approach that takes a cue from the war in Ukraine by arming the military with drones made of cheap, disposable cardboard for reconnaissance and ammunition drop missions. However, as is the case with nearly every aspect of the Biden Administration, the public seems to be left with more questions than answers. Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks (a Biden appointee) has stated publicly on numerous occasions that the military needs to adhere to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) standards and that the protests on January 6th were grounds to rethink the definition of “domestic extremism”. And so, as the public/private partnership between the Federal Government and Big Tech companies are a necessity in defense applications, how long will it be before this new spy tech is turned on the American people? How long will it be before the woke ideology of Silicon Valley leftists infiltrate the space of AI? And more importantly, is this already happening?
